Adult weight gain tied to prostate cancer risk
White men risk more aggressive tumors if pounds mount up in 20s, 30s, study finds

Dr. Brenda HernandezThe results of a new study led by UH Manoa's Cancer Research Center scientist Dr. Brenda Hernandez suggest that significant weight gain in males in younger and older adulthood may influence their risk of developing prostate cancer, depending on their race and ethnicity. Participants in this study includes blacks, Japanese, Hispanics, Native Hawaiians, and whites, all of whom also participate in the long-term Multiethnic Cohort Study.
