Student Enrichment Activities

Natural Products and Cancer Biology (NPCB) Program students are also exposed to the Program’s “Student Enrichment Activities”, which consists of the Cancer Biology Visiting Professor Lecture Series and the Cancer Biology Student Seminar Series.

Cancer Biology Visiting Professor Lecture Series
NPCB faculty participating in the Visiting Professor Lectures have hosted a number of leading cancer researchers including Drs. Martin Schwartz, John Lambris, Harald zur Hausen, Basil Rigas, Michael Weber, and Frank Meyskens. NPCB Program students not only benefit from attending the Visiting Professor’s seminar but also are able to participate in a group, student-only meeting with the Visiting Professor.

Cancer Biology Student Seminar Series
The Student Seminar Series provides graduate students with an opportunity to present a formal seminar on their research, and in doing so, gain valuable experience in the preparation and presentation of the seminar and fielding questions from the audience.

Career Seminar Series
The Career Seminar Series provides an opportunity for students to learn about careers available locally, here in Hawai‘i. Speakers come from a wide range of professions, from academic to industrial research and more. The students will benefit by learning about career opportunities as well as by networking with the local scientific community.
